Setup Smart By BOND

**Important Note**
If the fan has been installed for a while prior to setting up, please take note of the following.

  •  To refresh the fan back to setup mode, power the fan off from the wall switch or circuit breaker for 1 minute and power it back on.
  • As soon as the fan is back on, stand as close to the fan as you can.
  • Make sure that you are close to the fan until the end of the setup procedure.
  1. Open the BOND application.
  2. If you already have a BOND account, simply log in and continue to the next step. If you do not have a BOND account press “Create account” and enter your name, email, and password.
  3. Select to add a device

  4. If you have a QR on your product Select QR at the bottom.  This will bring you to step 7.
  5. If not using the QR code, Select Ceiling Fan 
  6. Choose Yes, my device is Smart by Bond.
  7. Select the Bond powered fan in the Android version.  The Fan id is the serial number for the fan and will start with the letter K.
    1. For iOS - go into Wifi settings and select the Bond Config WiFi (starts with K).
      (Note: When your iOS device is connected to the Bond Config WiFi network, it is normal for it to display a message indicating that there is "no internet connection.")
    2. Go back to the Bond Home application.
  8. Once the BOND application connects to the fan, select CONTINUE to proceed.
    1. If you are asked for a pin, please enter the 4-digit pin which may be located in the manual, or press and hold Power or stop on the associated remote for 6 seconds.

  9. If there is a Firmware Update message, select Update to perform the update.
  10. Test the fan functions.
    1. You have the option to disable the light function if your fan does not have a light.

  11. Select YES, IT WORKS.
  12. Specific information about your fan
    1. Select Location and choose from one of the predefined entries or add your own by selecting OTHER. When finished select Save.
    2. Select Device Name and enter the name for your device. When finished select OK to save.
      1. Please note that this name will be used for integrations so a simple easy to remember name is best.
  13. Select Continue.
  14. Select the WiFi network you would like to connect the SBB to.
  15. Enter the WiFi password and select OK.
  16. If there is an issue with the connection, wrong password entered. You will receive an error message. Please select OK, I’ve Got it.


    1. Start the set up process again by choosing +.
    2. You will start at step 8 to confirm the application controls the fan.
  17. Once the connection is made, please select DONE.
  18. If the SBB fan is not displayed in the BOND application, please swipe down to refresh.

iOS Widgets

  1. In order to add widgets to the Today View, you must first setup the Bond and add your devices. If you have not done that, please do so before proceeding to the next step.
  2. Swipe right to Today View and scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Edit".

  3. While in Edit mode (apps shaking), scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Customize."

  4. On "Add Widgets" page, add the Bond widget then select Done.

  5. On the Bond iOS widget, tap to manage widgets. (This should lead you to open the Today Widget feature in the Bond Home application).

  6. In "Today Widget" feature in the Bond Home application, select a Bond device you wish to add as a widget by using the toggle button left of the Bond device.

  7. Exit the Bond Home application, and swipe to the Today view again. Your Bond iOS widgets should be added in the Today View.

  8. If you would like to add additional Bond devices to the widget select Manage Widgets.

    a. You can also add commands from the Today Widget menu located in the settings menu for the Bond device.

Setting up and Using Amazon Echo

  1. In order to connect Alexa and Bond, you need to create an account in the Bond app and connect it to your Alexa account. If you already have a Bond account, go to step 3.
  2. Open the Bond Home app. and select “Create account”. Enter your name, a password, and your email.
  3. Once a username and password are created, go to the Alexa application. Click more located menu on the bottom right corner of the screen and choose “Skills & Games”.
  4. Select search and type Bond Home into the search bar.  Next, click on the Bond Home skill and choose to Enable the skill.
  5. You should be prompted to enter your Bond user and password to authenticate the Bond.
  6. You should see a “Discover Devices” pop up. Select the “Discover Devices” option. You should then see your devices listed in "All Devices" or the fan lights in "Lights" and "Switches" will list your fans. If your devices are not found, select "+" followed by "Add Device", "Other" and "Discover Devices". If that doesn’t work please try the following:
  7. Restart your Alexa device and the Bond.
  8. Disable and re-enable the skill for the BOND in the Alexa application.
  9. Download and install any software updates available for Alexa and Bond.
  10. Make sure Alexa, the device the Alexa application is on and the Bond are on a network that has a connection to the Internet.

Setting up and Using Google Home

  1. In order to connect Google Home and Bond you will need to create an account in the BOND app. If you already have a BOND account, proceed to step 3.
  2. In the login screen, select “Create account”. Enter your name, a password, and your email.
  3. Once you have an account go to the Google Home app. (make sure you’re logged in). Click on “+”.
  4. Select "Set up device".
  5. Select "Works with Google".
  6. Select search.
  7. Type Bond into the search bar and click the search button.
  8. Select “Bond Home”. (DO NOT USE Bond Smart Home.)
  9. You should be prompted to enter your Bond user and password to authenticate the Bond. Once the pairing is complete, your devices should appear.
    1. Assign the devices to the proper Home and location if requested.
  10. If the devices do not appear please try the following:
  11. Restart Google Home and the Bond.
  12. Unlink and then relink your Bond account to Google Home.
  13. Download and install any software updates available for Google and Bond.
  14. Make sure Google Home, the device the Google application is on and the Bond are on a network that has a connection to the Internet.

Adding and using Widgets (Android)

  1. On your Android device Home screen press and hold to bring home screen options.
  2. Select Widgets.
  3. Select Bond 3x2.
    1. DO NOT USE Bond 1x1 as this is for the older Bond Bridge application.

  4. Select the Bond device for Widget control.
  5. Select the functions for the Bond device you want to control through the widget.

  6. Select the check mark to finalize.
  7. When you want to control a Bond Home device select the function you want from the widget.
    1. You will see a green bar moving at the top indicating the command is being executed.

    2. If the bar is RED it indicates the command was not processed.  Please confirm there is power to the Bond Bridge or SBB device and try again.
    3. If you are still having an issue with widget control, please contact us at customerservice@bondhome.io.

**Important Note**

The widget does not indicate the true state of the device.  If you have Trust Tracked State turned on for a Bond Bridge device it is still functioning.

Smartthings Application(Integration)

Initial Setup

  1. If you do not have the Smartthings application, download from the app or play store.
    1. DO not use the Classic application
  2. Open the Smartthings application
    1. Login using your Samsung account information if not currently logged in.
    2. If you do not have a Samsung account, select Sign in and Create account.
      1. Once the account is created sign in.
  3. Select +.
  4. Select Add device.
  5. Scroll down and select Bond Home.
  6. Select Fan/vent.
  7. Sign into your Bond account using your Bond account email and password.
  8. Your Bond devices will be displayed and can be assigned to existing rooms or new ones you create.

Creating a schedule

  1. Select + at the top of the application.
  2. Select Add automation.
  3. Select Custom automation.
  4. Select Add condition.
  5. Select Time Time is used as an example.
  6. Set a time and the days you would like it operate.
  7. Select Next.
  8. Select a Add action.
  9. Select Control Devices.
  10. Select the Bond devices you would like to control.
  11. Select Next
    1. You can select each of the devices to change the action. Setting a fan to speed 3 is an example.
    2. Select Done.
    3. Select OK to acknowledge the automation.

You can view the automation by selecting the drop down menu at the left of the application.

***Note*** When controlling shades on will open or move the shade up and off will close or move the shade down.
