Sidekick Keypad Mode: Control Any Bond or SBB Device

Overview

After enabling Sidekick Keypad Mode, you can use Sidekick to control virtually any supported device in the Bond App, including SBB motors.

In Keypad Mode, Sidekick sends these input types:

  • Tap

  • Double tap

  • Hold

These button actions can trigger commands through:

  • Bond Bridge / Bond Bridge Pro

  • SBB devices managed in the Bond App

This lets you assign Sidekick buttons to actions beyond standard fan control, giving you flexible, customizable control for many device types.

How Keypad Mode Works

Once Sidekick is placed into 8-key or 6-key Keypad Mode, its buttons no longer act only as default fan/light controls. Instead, each key can be configured to trigger an action in the Bond App.

Examples of actions you can assign include:

  • Toggle power for a ceiling fan

  • Toggle a ceiling fan light

  • Trigger an SBB motor action

  • Activate other supported device commands available in the Bond App

Enable Keypad Mode

You can enable either 8-key or 6-key Keypad Mode on Sidekick using the instructions provided in the Sidekick manual in the Bond App.

Configure Sidekick Buttons

After Sidekick is switched to Keypad Mode:

  1. Open the Bond App

  2. Select the Sidekick device

  3. Choose the button you want to configure

  4. Assign an action for:

    • tap

    • double tap

    • hold

  5. Save your changes

You can repeat this for any available key, depending on the keypad mode selected.

Example Use Cases

Here are a few common ways to use Sidekick in Keypad Mode:

  • One button tap toggles a ceiling fan on or off

  • One button double tap toggles the fan light

  • A hold action opens or closes an SBB motorized shade

  • Different keys control different devices in the same room

Notes

  • Keypad Mode supports controlling any supported device action available in the Bond App

  • This includes SBB motors and devices controlled through Bond Bridge / Pro

  • Available actions may vary depending on the device type and setup
