The Firefly comes with a connector that will not accept standard connections for outdoor light transformers or illumination. In this article we will show you how to make adjustments in order to use standard parts.
Please note
The Firefly one requires a 12VDC input voltage and the output load is a maximum of 60W (5A).
Setting up for power input
- Make sure all components are not connected to power.
- Looking at the plug, locate + illustrated in the image below.
- Mark the + side of the wire coming from the Firefly using the information from step 2 above to locate the positive wire. This way you have a reference for the positive wire when connecting to a power supply.
- Measure about 4 inches from the end of the connector and cut it. This is just a recommended length and will change based on your installation.
- Mark the positive wire to make the correct connection easy when connecting to the light in the next section.
- Carefully separate the the wires on the cable coming from the Firefly unit. The length of the separation needs to accommodate the type of connection being used.
- Strip enough insulation from both wires to accommodate a splice or connector.
- Connect both the positive (+) and negative (-) wires from the Firefly One to the power supply DC wires using a splice or connector.
- Please make sure the connection is outdoor / moisture rated.
Connecting lights
- Using the plug from Step 4 of the Power input instructions, carefully separate the wires on the cut cable making sure the length of the separation will accommodate the type of connection being used.
- Strip enough insulation from both wires to accommodate a splice or connector.
- Connect both the positive (+) and negative (-) wires from the connector to the lighting element.
- Please make sure the connection is outdoor / moisture rated
Checking operation
- Push the lighting element plug into the Firefly. The plug and receptacle are keyed for proper insertion. Make sure to tighten to complete the seal and connection.
- Plug the power supply into a source of power.
- Turn on the power supply if required.
- Press the power button at the top of the Firefly One and your lights should turn on.
**note - the connectors used in the image above are only used as representations of the connections.
